Where AI Content Still Needs a Human Touch

AI has revolutionized the way content is being produced. From articles, scripts, images, videos, and much more, it can churn out multiple pieces of content in less time.

This could be a blessing for people who create content.

Although fast, it may not always result in the best possible content.

Although AI can create content faster, it is not always aware of the nuances that make content engaging and appealing to the audience, and thus, human input is crucial to creating the best content.

AI Can Create, But Humans Give Direction

AI is great at executing instructions.

By giving it a prompt, you can ask it to generate a script, an article, an image, or even an outline. However, you must recognize that the value of the instruction depends on the level of detail. Who decides what the audience needs? A creator. For instance, one might ask an AI to generate a video about productivity. However, who decides what to talk about? Who defines the target audience for a specific piece of content? What lesson should the viewers take away from the video after watching it? The creator provides the guidance; the AI takes it from there and executes it to completion.

Original Ideas Still Require Human Input

AI can generate hundreds of ideas at a time.

Although that's a lot of ideas, quality ideas don't always come from quantity.

Most AI-generated ideas will be similar to each other because they're often just slight remixes of the same prompt.

Having a human brain come up with the ideas can help differentiate them.

A creator can think about ideas from different angles, relate them to specific topics or audiences, and make them feel fresh.

A human could have a few interesting ideas that they want to explore, and have AI assist them in developing and expanding those ideas.

Understanding the Audience

Good content is not intended for all kinds of people.

It is rather created for a specific audience in mind. A newbie may want something simple and understandable, while an experienced creator will look for more in-depth advice. In addition, a business person’s primary goal is different from that of a hobbyist creator.

An AI tool may address general trends, but humans can comprehend nuance far better.

You know what your audience needs.

You are familiar with their concerns and questions. Moreover, you surely can determine the tone and language that will help you connect and be heard. This information should be used as a guide for the AI to get the best result.

Emotions Are Hard to Automate Essay

People tend to connect to the stories, experiences, opinions, humor, and emotions of others

An AI might be able to produce emotional content, but it seems artificial in how it is written.

Real people bring the pizzazz and flair that people are willing to connect with

They can provide a different perspective or give insight to the situation and what really went down. For instance, many people love hearing about the mistakes that people make and the lessons that they learned because of it. Even in the writing that is produced by an AI, real people add heart and meaningfulness to the message that is being conveyed.

Human Editing Makes Content Better

The first draft of any AI content should never be considered the result

. This is because the AI may have written extra words, repeated itself, used words unnecessarily, and more. Human editing could fix these problems. A writer could ask themselves: does it sound natural, does it say what it needs to say, is there a good hook, is anything repeated, would a human say this, and is it giving good information

These are all valid questions that could make an enormous difference in a piece of writing. The AI writes the first draft, but then humans can put their own twist on it.

Fact-Checking is Still Relevant

Although artificial intelligence can indeed create false information,

the truth can sometimes be difficult to discern.

This is especially true if the article contains statistical data, research, product reviews, and/or current events. This means that it is essential that one fact-checks any significant information prior to publishing.

Not only does this ensure that the information is truthfully and accurately portrayed, but it also protects the credibility of the creator/company.

Although being able to produce articles quickly is important, nothing is more significant than the accuracy of the information itself.

Brand Voice Needs Human Direction

A strong brand has its own voice and personality

Some brands sound more professional while others are relatable, friendly, informative, edgy, or chatty

An AI can follow style guidelines, but someone has to set those guidelines in the first place

Also, the creator may want the narrator to sound a specific way, such as using simple language and accessibleanalogy-based explanations

Once these rules are set for the AI, it can generate content in whatever medium is desirable while preserving the brand's voice and personality.

Knowing What to Remove Is a Skill

One of the skills not often associated with humans is the ability to know when to leave something out.

While AI would want to give more information, more information may also be more confusing.

A human editor could see what is not necessary and delete it.

It may be easier sometimes to improve a written work by taking something out than adding something in.

Creativity Still Needs Human Judgment

Yes, an AI can come up with a lot of ideas.

It may say things like "here's a few different headlines you could try", "different visual styles", "plot twists", "character ideas", and "content types".

But what if not all of those are good options?

Or not good enough?

A human can evaluate and choose the best out of the ten AI-provided ideas that they could use.

That is what makes creativity more creative. It increases your options, then you can choose the one you want to go with.

The Best Workflow Combines Both

I think the question should not be whether humans or AI should be making the content;

I think the best question would be exploring ways that they can collaborate

AI is great when it comes to fast production, repetition, ideation, and scale.

Humans are better at empathy, judgement, and creativity.

A basic example of a great workflow would be something like

human idea, AI assistance, human review, and then final content.

This way, people aren't spending their time doing menial tasks that could be easily replaced by AI, and AI isn't doing most of the work.

AI Makes Creation Faster, Humans Make It Meaningful

AI has made content creation faster.

However, speed is not a substitute for meaningful content.

An engaging idea, focused intent, strong point of view, and natural, human touches are critical.

The best content, created using AI, is not the content with the most AI in it;

it is the content where the AI takes over for the rote tasks, letting humans handle the meaningful work.

AI-assisted creation enables you to create more.

The human touch is what makes your message worth seeing, hearing, and remembering.
